This Sunday, we'll be watching Full Metal Jacket; produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick, who also wrote it with Michael Herr and Gustav Hasford. 

The film is based on Hasford's novel "The Short-Timers" telling the story of a group of U.S. Marines during their training and their experience in the war in Vietnam. It won several awards and was an Oscar nominee for Best Writing in 1988.
