Mustafa Rizk is a singer , composer and Oud player born in Edfu Aswan in Southern Egypt. He grew up in this region rich in various forms of oral and architectural musical and poetic heritage.
In his childhood, he attended many activities of Zekr and folk songs such as Al Kaf, Al Sirah and Al Sirah Al Hilalyah as these ceremonies were held in the area and the street where he lives, and later on, he learned a lot of oriental singing, Oratorio and roles in official culture centers and palaces, after that he learned to play the Oud. Mustafa Rizk thought he wanted to have a special way of singing, so he composed songs in which the popular heritage is mixed with the oriental music, and then he presented this experience through his band Al-Wanasah which he established in 1998 and performed in many places such as Cairo Opera House, The British Council and Castle Festival for many years.
Throughout his artistic career, he moved to jazz music because of its universal character as well as Blues music since there is convergence between them and the music of the region in which he was raised, and since it's essentially considered as African music, so he delivered this experience in the album Bab El Louk.
Mustafa Rizk is currently trying to complete this experiment, which has been somewhat successful in order to prove there is an evolving form of contemporary Egyptian music in collaboration with a group of Egyptian poets and musicians.
