Youssra El Hawary, accordionist & singer-songwriter from Cairo. She has been composing her own songs, a satirical mix of social and political commentary, since 2010. In the early stages of her career, she would take to the stage only with her accordion, Her lively presence and unique musical style soon had her garnering a loyal following.
Her songs entwine Alternative Folk, French chanson, indie rock, and jazz to underscore an idiosyncratic artistic world. Performed with playful charisma. Her compositions are bellwethers of everyday life in Cairo, and the charged alchemy of the Mediterranean basin that fuels her distinctive and soulful sound.

Youssra & The Band:

Another characteristic of this project is the collaborative spirit which drove its progress from the very beginning, starting with the inspired group of musicians that make up the band. Their passion and ambition as they worked together with Youssra for years allowed for their music to evolve, as they came to develop a deeper understanding of their own instruments and so create a collective sound for the band as a whole.
